The controversy over the choice of Sylvain Tesson as godfather of the Spring of Poets has had resonance with the government.
The Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, intervened this Sunday, January 21, to strongly support the contested writer. On Twitter, she said:

A leading figure of the “literary far right”
The minister’s reaction echoes an article published on January 18th Publication. Signed by 1,200 actors from the cultural world, the text firmly opposes this nomination. The Ministry of Culture is one of the main supporters of the Spring of Poets, also coordinated by the association of the same name, the National Book Center and the Ministry of Education. It will take place from 9 to 25 March.
