More than the surname of the pseudonym of the erotic author Marlène Schiappa, Minelli remains known in France first and foremost as a brand of shoes with a mid-range quality/price ratio. But like the entire sector, the brand experienced the crisis violently and came close to definitive closure. Already in 2022 it had been rescued by its competitor San Marina, which was finally placed into receivership (later liquidated), taking its new recruit with it in its fall in September 2023. But on 8 January 2024, the commercial court of Marseille has made it official that it has found three buyers: the Mes Demoiselles brand, as well as investors DS Invest and Union Brothers.
To allow the acquisition of Minelli, two thirds of the employees were fired
To save the situation, several drastic decisions had to be made. To ensure this recovery, 73 stores will close permanently (out of 120 stores 39 stores and 8 corners in shopping centers will remain) and 213 positions out of 600 will be eliminated. To put it another way, almost two thirds of employees find themselves laid off to allow this recovery.
Minelli shoes: almost 2/3 of employees fired.
“It is bloodshed at a social level that is difficult to live with, but which was almost inevitable in the face of the crisis that the sector is experiencing”, Christian Macquaire, CFE-CGC union representative.https://t. co /k9injcj7tX

Near AFPin particular transmitted by francetvinfoChristian Macquaire, union delegate and vice-president of the national footwear union of the CFE-CGC union, summed up the situation thus: “ It is bloodshed on a social level that is difficult to live with, but it was almost forced when we see (…) the crisis experienced by the sector. »
The French brand founded in 1973 will therefore change its name, but not too much, given that it becomes ” Minelli House “. We hope you can find the right solution for you.
