On Monday, the board of directors of the American Cinematographers’ Society re-elected Stephen Lighthill as president for a third one-year term.
The news comes after the ASC Council held the official elections of 2022-23. Lighthill will work with Vice Presidents Amy Vincent, John Simmons and Shelley Johnson; Treasurer Stefano Poster; Secretary Greg Hashong; And Sergeant Chris Chomin.
“As an organization, we focus on education, continually improving safety practices and further expanding our diversity and relationships efforts,” said Lighthill. “The past year has brought many problems to our community and we are proud of how our members have addressed these challenges while continuing to take history to new places.”
Active ASC members elected to the organization also include Kurt Clark, Richard Crudo, Stephen Fierberg, Michael Goy, Ed Lachman, Patti Lee, Charlie Lieberman, Lowell Peterson, Lawrence Sherry, John Tolly, and Robert Yeoman. John Bailey, Eric Stelberg, Jim Deno, Patrick Cody and Dana Gonzalez are alternate members of the board.
Included in Lighthill DP credits Give me shelter Y Berkeley in the 1960s (the latter was nominated for an Oscar in 1991) and TV Bridges of Nash, Among others. He is also the disciplinary chair of cinematography at the American Film Institute’s Conservatory and was a member of the National Executive Board of the International Guild of Cinematographers.
ASC has more than 430 members from 20 countries, with more than 260 associate members representing industry support segments.
