The Cannes Film Festival brought together dozens of winners and special guests to celebrate its 75th anniversary tonight at the Palais des Festival. At the Lumer Theater, the artistic director and general delegate of the festival, Thierry Fremo, and the outgoing president of Cannes, Pierre Leskir, invited famous actors and directors who left their seats and took the stage.

The group included talented directors and actors such as Guillermo del Toro, Michel Hazanavicius, Paolo Sorrentino, Isabel Huppert, Mads Mickelsen, Diane Kruger, Nicolas Winding Refn, Ethan Cohen, David Cronenberg, Jillo Mordenhell, Dell Mortensen, Danelo, Peter Sarsgard, Jake Gyllenhaal. . “Cinema will never die,” said Fremo. He told attendees that for the 75th anniversary “we don’t want to go to the past, but to look to the future … we must fight for cinema to return to our lives after the pandemic”. He continued: “Cinema lives, cinema will never die”.

A special ceremony dedicated to Cannes’ 75th anniversary preceded the official out-of-competition screening of Louis Garrel’s film. The innocent Starring: Garell, Naomi Merland, Roche Zemi and Anuk Greenberg.

The festival has already invited previous winners for their important anniversaries and today also held a symposium on the state of the industry with the participation of notables such as Del Toro, Lelucci, Costa Gavras, Gaspar Noe, Paolo Sorrentino and others.
