“It’s a miracle I’m alive”: Madonna talks about her health, and it’s heartbreaking

Having survived a violent infection that almost cost her her life, Madonna gave a moving testimony on stage at the Barclays Center in New York. Between her struggle in hospital and a tribute to her mother, who died of cancer at age 30, the pop queen opened up about her journey of survival.

He shines in his music, in his videos and on stage, but in the shadows, he never stops fighting. During a concert in New York this Saturday, December 16, Madonna returned to a recent episode in her life, revealing it having come close to death.

12 hour tests

On June 24th Madonna was the victim of a bacterial infection lightning. The star and those close to her experienced an absolute nightmare: the latter was found unconscious on the bathroom floor, as he worked hard to prepare for his tour, “Célébration Tour”. On stage at the Barclays Center, the Queen of Pop said she lost consciousness and then woke up in the emergency room, expressing her gratitude for still being alive:

“In this room are the people who were with me in the hospital. There was a very important woman who took me to the hospital… I passed out on the bathroom floor and woke up in intensive care.

Once recovered, Madonna shared her first thoughts on Instagram when she woke up in the hospital. After her children, it’s her turn to his fans and collaborators that he wanted to write:


My first thought was of my children. Then I thought about the fact that I didn’t want to disappoint the people who bought tickets for my tour. I didn’t want to disappoint either those who had worked tirelessly with me for months to create my show. I hate disappointing anyone.

Connected to his family

With the sense of derision and the hint of madness that we know, Madonna joked about the happiness of seeing all her children reunited in the hospital. She remembered:

When I first came to, I saw my six children sitting in the hall. Actually, I had to come close to death to get my kids together in the same room – I know, it’s pretty funny. But they were all scared and I didn’t understand what was happening.

It wasn’t the first time Madonna talked about it the deep ties that unite him to his family. On October 14, in Brussels, the 65-year-old singer paid a disturbing tribute to her mother by speaking about this infection. The latter is she died of breast cancer at the age of 30while the future prodigy had only 5. In front of the Belgian public, Madonna, moved, confided:

Less than four months ago I was in the hospital, unconscious, and people predicted I wouldn’t make it. It’s a damn miracle I’m here now. My mother, God bless her, she must watch over me, she said, “Daughter, it’s not your time to go”

I suddenly felt sympathy for my mother. Not because she was dying, but because of the loneliness she must have felt in the hospital, knowing that she would not survive. I was given another chance, I’m very grateful. »

“I have to tell you that I don’t feel very well right now, but I can’t complain because I’m alive. Thank you God for my children and for all your love and support.”concluded the singer, whose music will now have a particular resonance, miraculous.
