An angry man reportedly beheaded his wife in a fit of rage because her morning cup of tea was “late”.
The suspect, named only as Dharamveer, killed his wife Sundari with a sword at their home in Faljagadh village near the capital Delhi in Uttar Pradesh state, police said.
The 52-year-old day laborer stabbed his 50-year-old wife 15 times with a sword before beheading her because she took too long to prepare his drink, Indian media reported.
The local police chief said the man woke up a few minutes after his wife, who had already started preparing the drink, and immediately asked where it was.
After being told it would take another ten minutes, Dharamveer flew into a rage and ran to grab a gun, which he then allegedly used to hack his wife, who was sitting by the stove.
Sundari, 50, was killed by her husband at home in Uttar Pradesh, India, police said
Police Commissioner Vivek Yadav told the Times of India that Sundari woke up at 6am and started making tea as he does every day.
Dharamveer woke up a few minutes later and called her for a cup of tea while the couple’s four children slept in another room.
“After about five minutes, Dharamveer again asked for tea and rushed to the makeshift kitchen on the terrace. “He got angry when his wife told him it would take 10 minutes for the tea to be ready and he threw away the utensils,” said Yadav.
Before returning, he found the sword and used it to kill his wife, the official said.
Her son named Soldier heard her screams and rushed to the scene where he saw his mother bleeding.
Dharamveer allegedly attacked his son and other children when they tried to help her and they fled to her room.
The villagers, alarmed by the screams, also rushed to their house and found Sundari lying dead in a pool of blood.

The police were called and Sundari’s body was taken for an autopsy. Dharamveer was arrested.
Soldier told Indian media that his father had a habit of drinking five or six cups of tea a day.
He said Dharamveer often got angry and shouted at his mother when she refused to make tea or when it was too late, but had never hit her until then.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Gyan Prakash Rai confirmed the incident in a statement, “Dharamveer and Sundari had an argument over making tea. He then took out a sharp weapon and attacked her from behind on the neck, which resulted in her immediate death.”
The investigation continues.
