If you’re celebrating Christmas or December 31st, you probably want to surprise your guests without spending too much time in the kitchen

How good: so that you don’t miss even a crumb of the glasses of champagne and the political discussions with your uncle Gérard, we give you the quick and delicious recipe for a Christmas tree stuffed with mozzarella and herb butter. Very simple to prepare, this appetizer will please everyone (unlike Gérard).

For 8 people you will need:

  • 2 pizza doughs
  • 2 large 250g mozzarella balls (or 4 125g)
  • 40g unsalted butter
  • 1/2 bunch of fresh chives
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper
  • 25 cl of tomato sauce

The recipe for the Christmas tree stuffed with mozzarella

  • Start by preheating the oven to 190°C.
  • In the meantime, prepare the pizza dough: cut them vertically into 4 strips, then cut them widthwise to obtain 24 squares of dough of more or less equal size (12 squares per pizza dough).
  • Cut the mozzarella balls into 24 equal pieces and place them on the pizza dough squares. Close them delicately by pinching the top of the dough, then roll them out on the work surface to obtain balls.
  • On a baking tray on which you have placed baking paper, assemble the tree: you need 6 balls of pizza dough as a base, then reduce by one ball per row to reach the top of the tree. The remaining balls are used to make the base of the tree.
  • Separate the yolk from the white and use the yolk to paint your tree using a paintbrush. You can add a little water to the yolk to dilute it and get more substance. Then cook for 15-20 minutes at 190°C.
  • While the tree cooks, mince the garlic clove and chives, then melt the butter in the microwave. Add the garlic and herbs. Salt and pepper to your liking.
  • When the tree comes out of the oven, brush it with herb and garlic butter and serve immediately, with tomato sauce.

Enjoy your meal !
