As you know, we love sharing our favorite recipes with you. Do I personally have a close relationship with snack time? Yes, absolutely. Am I totally overexcited as Christmas approaches? Yes too. So here is the recipe that combines my two passions in one fell swoop: that of Christmas moons.
The easy recipe for Christmas moons
To make this recipe (about 40-50 moons), you will need:
- 250 g of flour
- 160 g of soft butter
- 80 g of icing sugar
- 100 g of chopped almonds
- 50 g of icing sugar
- 1 sachet of vanilla sugar (or a teaspoon of liquid vanilla extract)
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 pinch of salt
First thing: preheat the oven to 180°C. In a salad bowl, mix the sugar, flour and almonds. Then add the egg yolks, soft butter, salt and vanilla sugar (or vanilla extract). Knead everything by hand with your little fingers, but not too much so that the dough does not become crumbly. Once this is done, form sticks of about 5 cm, and fold them so that they resemble crescents. Place them on a baking tray covered with baking paper and put them in the oven for 10 minutes.
Once cooked (they should be slightly golden), let them cool and dust them with icing sugar. Oh and if you’re not a fan of the taste of almonds, know that this recipe can be made just as well with hazelnut powder.
