A second oil train exploded in Buryatia, deep in Russia, apparently an attempt by Ukrainian intelligence to stop the delivery of munitions from North Korea.
Yesterday it was announced that a train had exploded in a nine-mile long tunnel, the longest in Russia.
According to the broadcaster InformNapalm, the line for ammunition from North Korea is used to supply Vladimir Putin’s invasion troops in Ukraine.
The broadcaster added: “The explosion incident is said to have occurred on the Itikit-Okushikan section of the East Siberian Railway in the Northern Railway Tunnel.
“It is located on the BAM (Baikal-Amur Main Line) and receives military supplies from the DPRK (North Korea).”
According to the report, investigators considered the explosions to be “sabotage” and opened a criminal case for “terrorist” attacks.

Dramatic images from Russian news sites show the carnage after the second explosion some 5,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border in Siberia.
On Thursday, Ukrainian security sources blamed the SBU secret service for the explosion in the Severomuysky tunnel.
Russian authorities have reported a series of attacks on transport infrastructure since February last year and have occasionally pointed the finger at Kiev.
“The Russians fell into the trap of the SBU twice: another fuel train exploded on the Baikal-Amur railway line,” said a Ukrainian law enforcement source, citing the SBU security services.
The source said Friday’s suspected attack was the result of an initial explosion on Wednesday night as a train passed through the remote Buryatia region.
The second explosion on another train was reported “in the same area”.
There was no immediate reaction from the Russian side to the latest incident, but Moscow confirmed earlier this week that a train crew noticed smoke in a fuel tank and called firefighters to the scene.
Russian business magazine Kommersant cited sources on Friday who said investigators had opened a criminal investigation into Wednesday’s incident and that the fire on the train was likely caused by an unknown explosive device.
“The Russian secret services have to get used to the fact that our people are everywhere. Even in distant Buryatia,” the Ukrainian source said.
The source added that the second attack targeted an alternative route for trains on the same railway line – over the Chortov Bridge – also in Buryatia.
“This is exactly what the SGE expected: When the train crossed this 35 meter high bridge, the explosives placed there exploded.”
The Baikal-Amur railway is more than 4,000 kilometers long and shares the borders of China and Mongolia.
Earlier on Friday, Russia said it had arrested a Russian-Italian dual citizen on charges of carrying out sabotage attacks on a railway and air base on behalf of Ukraine.
“Four tankers of the train burned out, two others were damaged by fire,” reports the Baza media agency.
The fuel was spread over an area of 1,600 square meters, it was said.
The tunnel remains blocked by the initial explosion, which appears to have caused extensive damage.

According to one report, the train consisted of 50 tankers: 41 carrying diesel and three carrying kerosene.
“As a result of the explosion, tanker 16 burned out at the front of the train,” reports Baza.
Holes were found in two other tankers.
“After the explosion, 14 tanks were removed, but it is not yet possible to transport the wagons any further.”

Russia initially claimed that the tunnel explosion was caused by a “short circuit”.
Last month Lt. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov, the head of Ukrainian military intelligence, said the missiles in Kim’s arsenal are suitable for the Grad anti-aircraft missile defense system and some Russian tanks.
North Korea is able to produce a significant number of artillery shells because, unlike Russia, the Pyongyang regime has facilities to produce mass-produced weapons.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russian military facilities can cover seven percent of the Russian army’s artillery warhead needs.
“The question is how many Koreans can transfer quickly,” Budanov said.
