“Whatever you do, whatever it takes, promise me you’ll find your way home.” This is what “the darkest angels are told.”
The last time we visited George Miller Crazy Max Universe, 2015 Angry road won six Oscars. Fast forward, and now we have the first trailer for the prequel, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Watch the video above and check out the poster below.
Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth star in the film, which returns to the iconic dystopian world created 45 years ago under the low-budget, high-pace direction of Mel Gibson Crazy Max. Oscar winner and six-time nominee Miller is back at the helm of the action thriller he co-wrote with Nico Lathouris.
Here’s your logline: As the world ends, young Furiosa (Taylor-Joy) is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a large biker horde led by the warlord Dementus. While traveling through the wasteland, they come across the citadel ruled by Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants battle for power, Furiosa must endure many trials as she gathers the resources to find her way home.
Alyla Browne and Tom Burke also star. Among the Angry road Oscar winners returning on this journey include production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, sound engineer Ben Osmo, costume designer Jenny Beavan and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt.
Warner Bros. will open the Village Roadshow Pictures film in the U.S. on May 24, while its overseas release will begin two days earlier. Game will also be released in Imax theaters.
