The pre-New Year bustle has just begun, and in Nikola-Lenivets they are already preparing for Maslenitsa, to burn the “Black Mountain” on March 16, one of the holidays.

Yes, next spring’s art object will be a 22-meter volcano made of birch branches and straw; the idea belongs to local resident and co-author of many works of Nikolai Polissky, Konstantin Fominov. Its architect was Ekaterina Polyakova, the author of the “Tower of Babel” object dated 2022.

“Black Mountain” will be installed over three months by a team of 20 people; the structure will be built on straw, birch branches, spruce poles and tree tops (only waste and unnecessary materials will be used). Before it burns, show participants will be able to climb to the top of the “volcano” using the internal staircase, stopping at three observation platforms along the way.
But the most interesting thing for Maslenitsa guests will, of course, be the combustion phase, which will receive special attention next year – it will repeat a real volcanic eruption with black smoke, sparks and ash coming out of the ventilation. There will also be a fair today!
Ticket price starts from 4600 rubles. The number of tickets is limited, so we do not recommend postponing your purchase until later!

Let us note that Nikola-Lenivets was designed as a creative village, far from civilization and the noise of the city, so there are many art objects, tent camps, hiking areas and many activities throughout the 12 months of the year. Therefore, if you suddenly get tired (and this is natural at the end of the year), then it’s time to relax. Travel time from Moscow starts from three hours by car.
