Should: Why should only one woman be responsible for running the household?

Should: Why should only one woman be responsible for running the household?

Women leaders have proven themselves confidently in business and production. Although we still have to fight with our male colleagues for higher career ladders and salary levels, there is one place where no one claims female leadership: the home. On the contrary, women want to share the burden of responsibility there, but they hear in return: “You have to handle everything yourself!”

Management without borders

This style, which is called the female leadership style in the office and at work, has many advantages and allows you to achieve high results. Women are excelling at building relationships, developing teams, and even “traditionally masculine” skills like taking initiative and being results-oriented. But the responsibilities of the manager in any position or position are defined quite strictly: the area of \u200b\u200bresponsibility has boundaries from below and from above. But in the case of the home, they are almost endless and at the same time very diverse: from the schedule of children’s clubs to the essentially absurd requirement of each family member to know “where his socks are.”

Times change, attitudes stay

In the past, women naturally became housekeepers and housekeepers. This way of life, preserved for centuries, changed dramatically in Europe in the mid-1960s, when most women began to work, but in Russia it began to collapse even earlier. But administrative functions in the home are still considered female by default. According to Nielsen Shopper Trends research, 84% of those shopping for groceries and daily products in Russia in 2020 were women. Moreover, there is no reason to believe that the situation has changed dramatically in the last three years: the same researchers showed a steady increase in this percentage over the previous few years. In other words, although there is no gap in employment, planning daily expenses and ensuring the normal functioning of the family is still a matter for women: we work the same hours.

Responsibility Sharing

There is only one way out; As in the work team: delegation of responsibility. You must try to overcome the “systemic attitude” in yourself. Equal rights also mean equal responsibility, and it is at least wrong to view your partner as a person who cannot remember where the socks are and what is in the refrigerator. If daily absent-mindedness is truly an objective problem and not learned helplessness, then there are many apps to solve it, with lists of chores and supplies, reminders, and scheduling. Typically, these can be shared among the whole family.
