Melanie Grant is one of the world’s most sought-after skin care experts. Hollywood stars of the first magnitude gravitate towards him – Victoria Beckham, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and others. In her book The Modern Guide to Skin Health, Melanie explains the basic rules to follow to prolong the beauty of your skin. Here are some tips from his book.
Choose an exfoliator that suits your skin type
According to Melanie, exfoliation is an important step of any beauty routine. “Regular exfoliation (2-3 times per week) is essential to maintain a healthy, functional skin barrier,” she writes. As exfoliators, AHA acids are perfect for combination skin. BHA acids, especially salicylic acid, are for fatty acids. And PHA acids are the gentlest, so they’re perfect for those with sensitive skin.
Increase your tolerance to active ingredients

“When we use too many products or frequently switch from one product to another, we can damage the skin’s protective barrier and antimicrobial function,” Melanie writes. Active ingredients in product formulas should be used with caution, she says. For example, products containing retinol or acid should be gradually included in your beauty routine and the skin should be allowed to get used to it. You should start once or twice a week and gradually work your way up to more frequent use.
Apply vitamin C under sunscreen
This increases the effectiveness of SPF cream tenfold. Studies have shown that using a cream containing vitamin C helps protect the skin from free radicals caused by ultraviolet rays. Therefore, the combination of sunscreen and vitamin C provides even more effective protection against premature aging.
The best home care product is the LED mask

According to Melanie, facial cleansing brushes aren’t the best investment in your skin’s health. The same cannot be said for the LED mask. “Them [LED-маски] It helps increase collagen synthesis, moisturize and heal the skin and reduce imperfections. LED therapy works wonders for all skin types and concerns,” writes Melanie. By the way, you can read more about how the LED mask affects the skin here.
Cucumber is really good for the skin around the eyes
Perhaps Melanie’s most surprising “grandma” tip is to use fresh cucumber slices to moisturize the eye area. “Cucumber remedy for dark circles is no joke. “Cucumber slices, if applied cold, help constrict blood vessels,” she says. Thus, dark circles under the eyes are eliminated.
