EXCLUSIVE: Tech entrepreneur and producer Oleg Shardin, best known as co-founder of digital whiteboard company Miro, and actor and producer Alex Lane have teamed up to create multimedia production company Puma In A Tank.
The new banner will specialize in low- to mid-budget thrillers and TV series, with a focus on international components and socially relevant topics.
The company has already raised funds to finance a number of films and television shows and will seek strategic partnerships on a project-by-project basis.
Partners include venture capitalist Joachim Laqueur, M&A and business strategy expert Vasiliy Lantsov and corporate finance expert Igor Shardin.
One of the first projects is a thriller film directed by women Speak louderDirected by award-winning Irish filmmaker Rioghnach Ni Ghrioghair (Balor Hall); American drama series Director ADBased on the international bestseller The Saudis rule by Jayne Amelia Larson, who co-wrote both the series and the female-dominated future thriller A better place.
Puma’s cornerstone project In A Tank is the upcoming international crime TV series Thieves in lawto which the German Uli Edel (The Baader Meinhof complex) is directly linked to.
Lane co-created the series with Josh Berman (Angel of heaven) and will also co-produce with Gabor Krigler, former creative director of HBO Europe (Aranyelet).
The series revolves around an international criminal cartel that coalesces around the fall of the Soviet Union, as well as the FBI’s Organized Crime Division’s international law enforcement efforts as they attempt to undo this criminal merger.
The book The organization, by Alain Lallemand, senior investigative reporter at the Belgian newspaper Soireeserves as its IP.
Sandy Kliman (The Dragon) is an executive producer along with Shardin, Lane and Krigler. Darrell M. Blocker, retired CIA manager and Lallemand collaborate on an EP
Emmy nominee Nancy Bishop joins the cast. Jonathan Ford of Abacus Media Rights is handling sales.
Shardin’s production credits include an art house drama Illusionsupcoming political drama The debates and thriller feature Zwartwater Avenue.
Lane has appeared in various television shows, films and theater productions. As a writer and producer, he has been involved in the development, packaging and financing of various international film and television projects for European and American producers and distributors.
Zwartwater Avenue was one of these projects and the seed of the Shardin Lane partnership.
