Hollywood Content Creators Gather for Brady’s Gun Safety Summit; Organization strengthens staff for culture-oriented campaign

Writer-producer Matt Nix, writer-producer Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and writer Ephraim Salaam and others join Endeavor tonight for Brady United Against Gun Violence’s Show Gun Safety Summit.

The event will focus on how content creators can “model gun safety on screen to positively change attitudes and behaviors toward guns and help save lives,” the organization said.

It’s part of a larger push by Brady United for the entertainment community as part of a cultural and gun safety initiative. Their Show Gun Safety campaign last spring included a meeting of entertainers at the White House, a partnership with Hollywood, Health and Society at USC’s Norman Lear Center and a list of best practices.

Jessica Yellin will moderate the panel discussion, which will also include Brady President Kris Brown and Endeavor’s Dani Potter.

Brady also plans another event on CNN on Nov. 9 with activists Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was killed in the Parkland school shooting, and Aalayah Eastmond, a shooting survivor. The event will feature a screening of the documentary “Memorial,” which chronicles the shooting at the Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois.

The organization also announced new hires in Los Angeles who will work on the initiative. That includes two new senior advisers: Christy Callahan, a former creative director and television writer, and Matt Littman, who led the 97 percent campaign to reduce gun violence and is a senior adviser to Biden Harris’ re-election campaign. Jared Milrad, a filmmaker and actor who focuses on social impact in the entertainment industry, will also participate. He will serve as Director of Engagement. They will work with Brady’s Renee Davidson on the initiative.
