The concealer is ideal for hiding dark circles, camouflaging some imperfections and even acting as a foundation to obtain greater coverage… But in the 2000s, this small make-up tool was also used to enhance the lips in order to obtain what was called a “nude” effect at the time. Although the concept of “nude” has evolved a lot since then, the technique for applying concealer to the mouth is no longer exactly the same as it once was. This is demonstrated by a video by Sofia Richie published on the Chinese social network TikTok.
The “Lip Corrector” trend 2023 version
In this video of a few seconds, Sofia Richie does not try to reproduce the famous trend of the early 2000s, but it is subtly inspired by it, to obtain a modern and sophisticated result. The latter therefore uses two colored conditioners from the YSL Beauté brand. Two shades of slightly pinkish brown (one darker than the other), which allow you to obtain the ideal color for your complexion. As a final touch and to give more definition to her mouth, Lionel Richie’s youngest daughter adds a very small drop of concealer which she applies to the center of her lower lip. An ingenious touch that allows it to create nuanced effects to make the mouth appear fuller.
A very different trend compared to the 2000s
As you may have understood, the lip concealer technique is much less binary than in the early 2000s. At the time, the followers of this method wanted to obtain a “blurred mouth” effect whose contours were difficult to identify. Today we use concealer to add definition, volume and make the look more refined. Yes, times are changing and so are beauty trends…
