EXCLUSIVE: BAFTA winner Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire), Blue pants Breakout Rosy McEwen and Jade Croot (The Snake Queen) is the lead in a barely known horror film rabbit trapwhich recently wrapped filming in Wales.
Bankside Films and CAA Media Finance are putting the project up for sale at the upcoming AFM. Producers are Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah’s SpectreVision (Mandy) and Lawrence Inglee (The history), along with Elisa Lleras and Alex Ashworth and Sean Marley of Mad As Birds (pump).
Set in 1973, the film tells the story of married musicians Daphne and Darcy Davenport, who move from London to a remote cottage in Wales to finish their new album. When they accidentally make a field recording of a mystical sound never before heard by human ears, a strange child enters their lives and gradually separates them from reality. ever known. Written and directed by debutant Bryn Chainey, the film was financed by Adrian Politowski’s Align, which serves as the film’s producer along with executive vice president of production Martin Metz. Chairman Nadia Khamlichi, commercial director Nessa McGill and vice president of production Sierra Garcia will also serve as executive producers. Align and SpecterVision previously collaborated on the horror film Nicolas Cage Mandy.
Bankside, who has recently found success with Australian horror Talk to me, handles international sales and CAA Media Finance is on board for domestic sales. A promotional role will be available during the AFM.
I previously collaborated with composers such as Oscar winner Volker Bertelmann and the late Jóhann Jóhannsson on the soundscape of rabbit trap SpectreVision hired Lucrecia Dalt, whose album will be released in 2022 YES! was voted best album of the year by Wire Magazine, sound designer Graham Reznick (Ti West’s X) and sound engineer Brent Kiser (Everything, everywhere, all at once).
Additional executive producers include Dev Patel, Benjamin Kramer of Wiser Film and Kyle Stroud of Carte Blanche, Stephen Kelliher and Sophie Green of Tom Ogden and Bankside Films. The film was made under equity contracts and thus required no interim agreement.
Chainey’s short film, Jonah and the vicarious nature of homesickness, won the Young Director Award at the Berlinale Talent Campus. Bryn has directed several other short films including: Moritz and the Woodwose And Kill your dinnerwhich started at the Berlinale.
