Skipper Kevin Escoffier suspended for 18 months following sexual assault allegations

The skipper has been in the sights of the French Sailing Federation since last June.

Already under judicial investigation for facts” related to sexual violence », Kevin Escoffier has been targeted since August 9th by disciplinary proceedings opened by the French Sailing Federation for ” inappropriate behavior “.

The latter would eventually suspend the browser for a period of 18 months, according to new information from Parisianof October 20th.

A complaint for sexual violence and “repeated errors”

At the beginning of June, the French Sailing Federation (FFVoile) contacted the prosecutor’s office regarding the skipper and a preliminary investigation was opened at the beginning of July.

The complaint, initially presented to the Ministry of Sport, concerned facts qualifying as sexual violence, involving a young member of his team, during a stage of the Ocean Race in Newport. The latter had not filed a complaint.

One of them, for example, confided the recommendations made to her: “I was told not to be alone with him because of his sometimes inappropriate behavior towards women. »

Following this suspension, Kevin Escoffier is banned from all competitions and “ he also receives a temporary suspension of his license for 5 years as well as ineligibility for 10 years from the governing bodies of the FFVoile », abounds in the newspaper. He has 7 days to appeal this decision.
