‘Ferrari’ trailer: Automotive mogul captures conflict between his personal and professional lives in biopic starring Adam Driver

UPDATED, 07:45: “Two objects cannot occupy the same point in space at the same time.” This is how the official trailer for Michael Manns begins Ferrari in which car magnate Enzo Ferrari finds himself at a personal and professional crisis point in his life. “The curve rushes towards you, you might have an identity crisis,” says Adam Driver’s Ferrari. “Am I an athlete or a competitor?” he asked.

With bankruptcy and a faltering marriage, Ferrari’s best hope to save his legacy and failing business is to win the treacherous 1,000-mile Mille Miglia race through Italy.

Neon releases the film on December 25. Watch the official trailer above and the original teaser below.

BEFORE, August 30: “When you get into one of my cars, you get in to win.”

Adam Driver speaks these words in the first teaser for Michael Manns Ferrari – and these are the only words spoken in it. The rest is engines running, gears shifting, and more engines running. Watch it above.

It is the summer of 1957. Behind the spectacle of Formula 1, former racing driver Enzo Ferrari (driver) is in crisis. The factory that he and his wife Laura (Penélope Cruz) built from scratch ten years earlier is threatened with bankruptcy. Her unstable marriage is rocked by the loss of her son a year earlier, and Ferrari finds it difficult to acknowledge his son with Lina Lardi (Shailene Woodley). Meanwhile, its drivers’ passion to win pushes them to their limits as they tackle the treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Mille Miglia.

Patrick Dempsey, Sarah Gordon, Gabriel Leone and Jack O’Connell also star in Mann’s vehicle, written by Troy Kennedy Martin. The film will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday, followed by a Christmas Day release in the US via Neon.

Ferrari received a tentative agreement between SAG and AFTRA this month that will allow the stars to promote the film on the festival circuit, which also includes a closing night at the New York Film Festival in mid-October. STX Entertainment and its partners distribute internationally.
