Matthew Paul Miller aka Matisyahu, spoke out against celebrities who refrained from commenting on the war in Israel. “We are all grieving and we are all feeling the weight of this horrible, horrible situation,” the reggae artist, 44, said exclusively. Hollywood life via FACTZ.
“To the famous people, who are out there, who support the Jews… I support them and say, ‘Thank you,’” Matisyahu said, before adding, “And to the people who are too afraid to speak out, or the people who publish posts and then delete them because they are afraid of losing followers, e.g [that] They will lose some of their fame or position. I have to say I feel sorry for you. “It’s bigger than your brand.”
Kylie Jenner He posted, and then deleted, a note of support for Israel via his Instagram Stories over the weekend after receiving backlash. The now deleted message read: “We will support the people of Israel now and always! SHARE if you support the people of Israel as they face one of the most terrifying situations in recent years.”
The “One Day” singer added that the war is “not just about Israel,” even though “a lot of people try to say that it is.”
“These are women and children burned in the streets, taken from their homes, and it’s not about land, it’s a religious war,” he continued. “Israel must fight for her existence. “Jews have had to fight for their right to exist since the beginning of time.”
The conflict between Israel and Hamas has been going on for years, but the situation came to a head last week when Hamas attacked Israeli communities in the Gaza Strip. Hamas fired multiple rockets at a music festival over the weekend, killing hundreds of civilians. The Palestinian militant group has ruled the Gaza Strip since taking control in 2007.
Matisyahu stressed that Israel “wants to live in peace” and explained what would happen if Hamas’ violence ended.
“If all of Israel’s enemies laid down their arms now, there would be peace on earth and all would live,” he stressed, before insisting: “If Israel laid down its arms now, they would be abolished in one day; “They would be massacred: men, women, children.”
The “Uncrowned King” artist then highlighted what he believes will happen next between Israel and Hamas.
“The next step will probably be a tough war,” Matisyahu added. “I don’t think Israel will stand by and watch as they take civilians from their homes – women, children, the elderly – and parade them through the streets and massacre them. I have a feeling that Israel will respond in an unprecedented way.”
Matisyahu concluded: “Jews love to argue. We love to fight. We argue among ourselves. It’s something known. When Jews are attacked because Jews and women and children are burned in the streets, something in the Jewish people comes to life and we stand together.”
