Queen Elizabeth attended the closing of the Royal Horse Show in Windsor, which coincided with a series of celebrations in honor of her platinum anniversary on the throne: she celebrated her 70th anniversary on 6 February 2022. The Queen has been rarely seen in public lately for health reasons, but she hasn’t missed her annual horse show since 1943. At the event, the queen appeared in a blue dress with sequins and a gray cape.

The Queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward, and his wife, Countess Sophie, accompanied the Queen to an equestrian performance entitled “Galloping in History.”

The horse show was the first phase of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, so not all members of the royal family attended the event. But the focus was on Lady Louise, one of the Queen’s favorite grandchildren. Prince Edward’s daughter paid tribute to her late grandfather, Prince Philip, and rode in the finale of the horse show.

On 12 May, Princess Beatrice attended a dress rehearsal of her equestrian performance with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi.

Hollywood stars also attended the celebrations: Tom Cruise and II in the movie Queen. Helen Mirren as Elizabeth.

The Queen’s presence at the celebration was only known at the last moment, as the Queen has often missed ceremonial receptions for health reasons lately – it’s hard for the Queen to walk, according to British media. Also in the media there was earlier information that the queen will miss official events in honor of the platinum anniversary of the throne, which will be held in June.

This year, the Queen attended only one event outside of Windsor Castle due to her health – a memorial service for her late husband, Prince Philip. He also missed the opening of a new parliamentary session for the first time in 60 years: instead of the Queen, her son Prince Charles read the speech.
