According to the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products, the deodorant produced by the brand Nuudit is said to cause troubling side effects in its users, including painful cysts and infections. According to the ANSM, it is the galenics of this formula that pose a problem. Mostly fat, she “it would favor the obstruction of the pores of the armpits with the possibility of a microbial superinfection, due to the occlusive effect”.
To avoid any risk, the deodorant has been withdrawn from sale in France (in pharmacies, at its retailers and on the brand’s website). Its manufacturer, meanwhile, has already undertaken a reformulation and the problematic deodorant is displayed on its website as temporarily unavailable.
It is important to underline that the ingredients used in the composition of the deodorant in question are not individually considered to be the cause of the undesirable effects, adds the ANSM.
Luckily, the cysts go away when you stop using the deodorant.
If you already have this deodorant, The ANSM recommends discontinuing its use for safety reasons. And if you’re concerned about an underarm cyst appearing after using a Nuud formula or any other deodorant, do not hesitate to consult your attending physician. If it turns out that your problem stems from using the Nuud formula, keep in mind that in most cases the cysts went away when use was stopped. Sometimes antibiotics may be prescribed to fight the infection.
