From now 12 yearsthe world hangs on his pen waiting to discover the end he has in store for his masterpiece, game of Thrones. While the last volume dates back to 2011, George RR Martin has been working for years on the final part of his literary saga, entitled Winter winds.
If Game of Thrones fans are so eager to find out the ending George RR Martin has in store for them, it’s because he promised them a different ending to the HBO series that many felt was fast-tracked and well below previous seasons. In this final avoided by viewers, the author did not take part: “By seasons 5 and 6, and definitely seasons 7 and 8, I was basically off the loop” he confided New York Times last year.
Six Foot Under: The best series finale of all time?
Waiting for the release of George RR Martin’s new writings, we can go to the side of his tastes in terms of end of series. An avid television consumer, the writer recently shared his favorite episodes in television history on his site Not a blog. If the author cited similar series The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Black Mirror, Fargo, The Wire OR mad Menone series scored him more than the others for his last episode, which he judges unsurpassed :
” If I had to pick a single episode that was even more perfect than the others on the list…it should be the final episode of Six Foot Under. I liked the series, even if I didn’t love it like Rome, Deadwood or Fargo, but this final episode is hands down the best epilogue in television history, and I don’t see how it could be topped. »
