They are unpredictable and exciting, yet, fall in love with the characters The Last of Us it’s probably a bad idea. Released in January, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann’s HBO series brought the zombie genre to life in a series that is as thrilling as it is heartbreaking, heralding the best for the coming seasons. Warning though: we learn from game of Thrones and remember that with HBO series it is better to be prepared for all eventualities regarding the fate of our favorite characters.
“No one is safe from anything »
This is what series creator Craig Mazin confided in the columns of Hollywood Reporters. In a long interview, the showrunner recalled that although it was adapted from the cult video game, The Last of Us also functioned as an independent work, the creators therefore reserve the right to take liberties with the game scenario :
” Anyone who has played and seen the first season knows that sometimes, we respect the script of the game to the letterand sometimes, we offer something drastically different. »
We have seen this especially since third episode of the first season, who dedicated an entire episode to telling the story of a simple and beautiful love that spanned several years, far removed from the action demands that characterize the zombie genre. However, some decisions of showrunner it can turn out more delicateparticularly when they pertain character death. In this regard Craig Mazin did not go there for four ways, reminding those who still do not know that in the series of him, no one is safe from the Grim Reaper :
“People understood by watching the show that it was the kind of story where no one is safe from anything. Sometimes creators try to make their series last as long as possible AND therefore preserve their main characters. When an actor asks for too much money or is out of fashion, they kill him. That’s not how we worknor HBO. So as far as I’m concerned, anyone can die at any time. »
If we’re glad Craig Mazin trusts his instincts as an author, we dare to hope that it does not touch a hair of our comforting characters that we are eager to find, even if it will take first wait for early 2025 for what.
