French-Czech writer Milan Kundera died at the age of 94 on Tuesday 11 July, his spokeswoman Anna Mrazova announced on Wednesday 12 July. “Unfortunately I can confirm that Mr. Milan Kundera passed away yesterday (Tuesday) following a long illness”she said AFP extension.

Born in the Czech Republic in 1929, the author was affected by censorship and emigrated to France in 1975, where he obtained his citizenship in 1981. His country finally gave him back his original citizenship in 2019.
