The trial against Piotr Pavlenski and Alexandra de Taddeo opens on Wednesday 28 June before the Criminal Court of Paris for violation of privacy. Three years earlier, the Russian artist and his wife had broadcast videos of Benjamin Griveaux, a politician close to Emmanuel Macron, then running for the Paris Commune, masturbating. A scandal that had shaken the entire political class.
“Political art” with a flavor of revenge porn
February 14, 2020. Benjamin Griveaux announces his withdrawal from the municipal campaign following “ despicable attacks involving [sa] private life “. In fact, two days earlier, intimate videos had been posted on a mysterious site called ” pornopolitics “, accompanied by screenshots of SMS intended for Alexandra de Taddeo. Widely relaunched on social networks, the whole is accompanied by a text by Piotr Pavlenski, which claims an act” of political art “. The goal in his opinion? Denouncing the hypocrisy of the politician what he does ” propaganda of traditional family values “, while sending nudes to a lover.
Whatever one’s political beliefs, and whether or not one likes the politician, this nickname–what happened looks more like abject revenge porn.
Filed a complaint
On February 13, 2020, Benjamin Griveaux filed a complaint. A few days later, Piotr Pavlenski and his partner Alexandra de Taddeo, then a student, were charged.
It will therefore have been necessary to wait three years for the two to find themselves at the helm, and to answer for the facts of which they are accused, i.e. the recording and broadcasting of the footage sensitively received by Alexandra de Taddeo during an intimate relationship with the former minister and spokesman of the government, between May and August 2018.

These ephemeral videos were supposed to be deleted after 30 seconds, but the 32-year-old said she set up her phone to keep them, so she would have “evidence” if their relationship became known. She claims that Piotr Pavlenski, whom she met her in late 2018, forwarded them to her without her knowledge. The investigating judges, on the contrary, considered her “direct involvement” of her, in particular as regards the financial support of an association, which she presides over, for the “Pornopolitique” site.
The court will decide after two days of hearings. Benjamin Griveaux, withdrawn from political life due to the events, will not be present.
