Ten years after his last feature film The wind rises (2013), Hayao Miyazaki will soon unveil a new film, titled How do you live? In Japan, the film will be released on July 14th.
Did not you know? It’s understandable: the Japanese director has chosen an exceptionally discreet promotion for his new film, of which no excerpt or image has been revealed.
“No trailers, no commercials, that’s what the public wants”
In an interview broadcast by Hollywood ReportersToshio Suzuhi, the producer of the film, has given some clues about this unusual and safe choice: “We don’t do any trailers, we don’t do any TV ads, we don’t do any newspaper ads. This is what the cinema-going public longs for deep down. »
The producer explained that he wanted to do the opposite of American model, which has accustomed the public to being inundated with trailers. No doubt the manufacturer refers to Barbiewhich for months has been multiplying the trailers, but also the titles that will make up the soundtrack of the film, played by a host of stars:
“An American film will be released at the same time this summer [que le Miyazaki]. They’ve already made three trailers. If you watch them all, you know everything that is going to happen in the movie. What does the public think? There is necessarily people who no longer want to see the film after all those trailers. I wanted to do the opposite. »
Free adaptation of a novel
For the more impatient it will therefore be necessary to settle for a magnificent one visualdirected by Miyazaki and revealed by Studio Ghibli:
