Given the decline in the rights of trans people in the United States, the worrying increase in LGBTphobic inter-individual violence in France, but also the attack on French community places such as the Bonjour Madame lesbian bar or LGBT+ centres, we can say that hate has still a bright future ahead of him. Another worrying sign: the Target store chain suffered a violent rejection of its Pride collection in late May 2023. Many LGBT-phobic people have intentionally caused damage to their display, sometimes even by assaulting staff, and calling for a boycott, as we have seen in many videos on social networks.
If you want to understand the power of boycotting Target you MUST see what Target is promoting for yourself.
This *nothing* has to do with a rainbow “PRIDE” display. This has *everything* to do with the aggressive and overt sexualization of children.

In the aftermath of the attacks, Target quickly pulled its Pride merchandise from shelves, with dire economic consequences. for the previously struggling chain of stores.
fuck@Targetfor giving in to the right-wing insanity of their pride section. I just attempted to buy one of the few $1 pride items my friend and I could find, and they wouldn’t let us buy it because they are removing their $1 pride items from stores. pic.twitter.com/3BER5XlsFj

As noted by the specialized media Fashion business, the retailer lost $14 billion in market value, according to its latest May earnings report. The rout pushed Target’s valuation to a 6-month low, with shares trading 15 times cheaper than expected.
If this economic decline is not only due to the refusal of products printed with cute rainbows for the month of Pride, this economic news highlights how much a part of the general public can find Pride collections useless or serve as pinkwashing, the violent rejection that can elicit illustrates how much LGBTphobia is still very present and violent.
