Could we soon overcome endometriosis? In Australia, researchers at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Sydney cultured tissue from all known types of endometriosis to observe their development and responses to possible treatments.
Better identify the type of endometriosis to better treat it and preserve fertility
It might be a detail to you, but to research it means a lot. Indeed, this means that scientists will now be able to vary better, calibrate treatments according to the type of endometriosis, but also know whether or not a person will need treatment for their fertility, transmits the Keeper.
This is a scientific advance close to what we were able to make in terms of breast cancer some thirty years ago, making the latter what we detect and treat best, reports the British media citing the professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Royal Women’s Hospital Sydney, Jason Abbott:
“Thirty years ago, we treated all breast cancer the same way. We now know that there are many different types of breast cancer and we treat them accordingly.
By knowing the type of endometriosis, we will be able to predict whether a patient might have an aggressive and invasive form of the disease and suggest treatment to preserve her fertility. »
