There are things you don’t mess with in life, starting with the rules for playing Uno with dignity and correctly. One is THE game that almost everyone agrees on. Yes, because there are always one or two people who like to say “oh no, I don’t like One”. Bah go taste your ancestors, please.
But do you really know how to play Uno, like the pros? Or do you break the rules and play like the old west cowboys?
The 3 rules of Uno that nobody respects
I’m not blaming you cheaters, I’m like you. I too throw out +4 and +2 for the sole purpose of not letting the others win. But in this year 2023, I have decided to improve my karma points, and to play by the rules, the real ones.
For this, here is the real truth, the one we don’t want to know and yet…:
- While playing Uno, you cannot chain +2. Yes, I know, you fall from a height learning this. However, even if we have a whole deck of +2 cards in our deck and we want to throw them at our opponent, we can’t. Gone are the days of actually sending +8’s to end each other gloating, that’s not how it works, sorry.
- You can’t swing your +4 like that, it has to be justified. By “justified” I mean that you can’t play it if you have the option to play another card, of the same color for example. Another fact, the opposing player who receives the +4 and who wants to cry because he was “so” far from winning, has the right to contest the serial poser +4 asking him to check if he had the wrong color. IF this is the case, whoever got his +4 must draw 4 cards in turn. Bam, in the teeth.
- The “change of direction” card doesn’t work if you only play two. Yes, in the case of a two-player game we tend (I for one) to use the “reversal” card to prevent the other from playing. No my dears, it doesn’t work like that. This card simply cannot be used in two-player games. Everything is out my lady pov.
Yes, I know, it hurts to read all of this. And if you ever have any more questions about the Uno rules, the real ones, you can watch Mattel employee Yannick’s video posted on Konbini:
