Tony Nominated “For Black Girls Who Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf” Extends Engagement on Broadway

Revival of Ntosake Shang Broadway For black girls who think about suicide / When the rainbow is Enuf, Nominated for seven Tony Awards this week, she extended her engagement by two weeks after announcing the closing date.

The “Coreopoema” show, directed and choreographed by Kamil A. Brown, will continue until Sunday 5 June at the Broadway Booth Theater. The previously announced final game was on May 22nd.

The show also got a boost on social media thanks to a recent advertising campaign launched by journalist and theater producer Ayanna Prescod, in which donors sponsor matching tickets to identify women of color.

The 1976 Revival was nominated for the Best Tony Revival category, as well as lighting, sound, costume and best actress (Kenita R. Miller). Brown was the first person to be nominated for both best director and best choreography, and Revival is the only non-musical candidate in the choreography category.
