‘Kangaroo’: Studiocanal leaps into family comedy Australia / New Zealand – Cannes Market

The story is inspired by the true story of Chris “Brolga” Barnes, founder of The Kangaroo Sanctuary, who has been caring and breeding kangaroos in Central Oz since 2005.

The film tells the story of the unfortunate professional surfer Chris Matherson, who stops in an inland town after a car accident. There he joins Charlie, an 11-year-old indigenous girl. The two form an incredible friendship by working together to save and rehabilitate an orphan Joy (Baby Kangaroo) in a remote but extraordinary community, a life-changing undertaking for both of them.

driedHarry Cripps wrote the script. Produced by Marianne McGowan (Great two-handed fury at Lake Placid) and Lewis Smith (End, Dance Academy, Rage at Lake Placid). Filming will take place in the northern part of Australia.
