Stop everything you do: the incandescent Jorja Smith is back. After two (too long) years of absence, he offers us a great clip, released on April 13, to accompany the powerful single Try me, revealed the same day. Would you suggest a new album coming up? We’re getting excited just thinking about it…

An incisive clip
Produced by London-based female duo DAMEDAME, Try me it’s one of those songs that makes you dizzy. Shot in the evocative scenery of the Sarragan limestone quarry in Baux-de-Provence and the arenas of Arles, the film, signed by Amber Grace Johnson, sees the English artist in the role of a precise and determined bullfighter. In front of her, the dancer Andrea Bou Othmane, in an empowered bull, poetic symbol of the pressures assaulting the artist. Then a theatrical ballet begins: calmly and firmly, the artist manages to tame the beast, and the clip ends with the silent image of two praying mantises, the female eating the male’s head (please listen to me!).
An acclaimed debut album
Jorja Smith is not on her first attempt. Revealed in 2018 by a first event album, Lost and found, has made a trademark of his sharp pen, jazzy vocal range, and raw emotion. At just 25, Jorja Smith has already collaborated with various big names on the Anglo-Saxon scene: Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Burna Boy, Dosseh, Oboy.
In 2021 it came out I will be right backan enchanted interlude in the artist’s discography, whose dreamlike productions have allowed the artist to reveal new facets of his rich voice, imbued with R&B, punk and even reggae influences…” Be Right Back was a taster, to let people know I was coming back confides the artist. We can’t wait to find out what’s next!
