A West Ham fan died on Thursday after being hit by a train following the Londoners’ 1-1 draw with Belgian club Gent.
The 57-year-old supporter was at the KAA Stadium to watch David Moyes’ side in the Europa Conference League before traveling back via the train station where he was struck.
He was taken to hospital for emergency treatment, but was later pronounced dead.
Investigators at Sint-Pieters station in Ghent described it as an “unfortunate accident”.
Train service in the area was reportedly disrupted for hours after the collision before normal services resumed at around 03:00 on Friday morning.

The Belgian broadcaster VRT NWS reports that the man was hit by the train at 21:45.
He apparently ended up on platform 12 when he collided with a train on its way to Ostend.
Gent’s supporters are now preparing for a trip to London when the two teams meet in the Europa Conference League quarter-finals next week.
The score is 1:1 and everyone still has to play for a place in the semi-finals.
