Andrew Lloyd Webber announces the death of son Nick

Andrew Lloyd Webber has announced the death of his eldest son Nicholas Lloyd Webber from stomach cancer.

“I am shocked to announce that my beloved eldest son Nick passed away in Basingstoke Hospital a few hours ago. His whole family is together and we are all totally bereft. Thank you for all your thoughts during this difficult time.”

The boy’s illness was revealed by Lloyd Webber earlier this week when the composer announced he would miss the Broadway opening of his latest musical. Evil Cinderella at a Santa who stayed in the hospital. Andrew Lloyd Webber turned 75 on the opening night of March 22.

Nicholas Lloyd Webber was 43 years old and had recently been transferred from hospital to hospice.

In the earlier post, Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote: “I want to thank you for the overwhelming support for my son Nick. He has now been transferred to hospice and continues to fight,” he said in the video describing the worst of this first pneumonia he suffered as a result of his cancer, which is just horrible. We are all here and the family gathered here and it was the right place for all of us. I think I’m going to get to Nick in a minute and I’m going to give him all the wonderful wishes I’ve had for him from all over the world.”

The son of Lloyd Webber and his first wife, Sarah Hugill, Nicholas was a Grammy-nominated composer who composed and co-produced the original London cinderella Cast album in 2021. Nicholas also composed the film The last bus (2021) by Gillies McKinnon, starring Timothy Spall and Phyllis Logan.

Nicholas also composed the BBC 1 drama Love, lies and recordsamong other projects.
