It’s sad to see this kind of scene still exists in 2023. It’s overwhelming to hear one woman, with such great influence, say such things to another, in our time. Both are mothers, but one allows herself to have a guilty, judgmental and haughty opinion in front of a young candidate who had certainly not asked to have her personal life diminished by simply coming to sing for a talent contest.

If Katy Perry has this opinion, everyone is free to think what she wants. But why proclaim it loud and clear, in prime time, for the sole purpose of hurting this young woman whose only fault, let us remember, was the audacity to have three children under the age of 25? What is the point of this kind of talk?

Hiding the violence of these words under the guise of humor is as low as the intellectual level of many openly macho and sexist characters that women struggle with on a daily basis. This kind of reflection, sent from one woman to another, is a blow to fraternities and feminism, and unfortunately proves that patriarchy still has a bright future ahead of it, as its allies lurk everywhere, even in our same field.
