Shameless, Katy Perry humiliates a young mother on American Idol

Singer Katy Perry, a judge on the TV show American Idol, made a despicable remark to a young woman who was just arriving to audition.

What a beautiful lack of sisterhood! Under the cover of humor, the world-famous singer did not hesitate to “shame” a 25-year-old young woman who had just come to the American singing audition, under the pretext that the latter already had three children.

Katy Perry and her macho thinking

Here’s proof that you don’t have to be a man to have sexist lyrics. To contextualize the scene you find in the video below, a young 25-year-old woman introduces herself to the jury ofamerican idol – the equivalent of Looking for the new star in France — consisting of Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. When she indicates her age, they are skeptical, finding that she looks much younger. Smiling, she continues her presentation, indicating that she has three children.

At this point, Katy Perry gets up and begins to lie down on the table, as she sometimes does on the show to express her emotions. The young woman, Sara Beth, says: If Katy lies down on the table, I pass out… » and the international star, idol of many, replies with contempt: ” Three children… My dear, it’s you who lies down on the table a little too much. »

Sure, we suspect he’s not talking about a delivery table here, huh, don’t even take us for tureens.

A fine example of shame for the mother, in complete relaxation

It’s sad to see this kind of scene still exists in 2023. It’s overwhelming to hear one woman, with such great influence, say such things to another, in our time. Both are mothers, but one allows herself to have a guilty, judgmental and haughty opinion in front of a young candidate who had certainly not asked to have her personal life diminished by simply coming to sing for a talent contest.

The latter also has a bitter memory, which she shared on her TikTok account:

@sarabethliebe

WELL. I didn’t think I was going to make this video, but I just wanted to say a couple of things since I’ve been inundated with articles and comments/messages about it.

In her testimony, Sara Beth explains that she was embarrassed in public on television and hurt by the singer’s comments, but that she was inundated with supportive comments that did her a lot of good. She adds that she wishes to take the opportunity to say that ” women who support themselves and lift up other women are so beautiful, being mom ashamed sucks, because being a mom and wife is hard enough “.

Frankly, if we could stop shooting each other in the paws at the slightest opportunity, it wouldn’t hurt. What’s the point of this kind of comment? If Katy Perry has this opinion, everyone is free to think what she wants. But why proclaim it loud and clear, in prime time, for the sole purpose of hurting this young woman whose only fault, let us remember, was the audacity to have three children under the age of 25? What is the point of this kind of talk?

Hiding the violence of these words under the guise of humor is as low as the intellectual level of many openly macho and sexist characters that women struggle with on a daily basis. This kind of reflection, sent from one woman to another, is a blow to fraternities and feminism, and unfortunately proves that patriarchy still has a bright future ahead of it, as its allies lurk everywhere, even in our same field.
