Argentinian actress Delfina Chaves (The secret of the Greco family) and Martijn Lakemeier (The east) signed up to star in the drama series maximum.
The series tells the life story of the Argentine-born Dutch Queen Máxima. Millstreet Films is the producer and also handles international distribution. RTL commissioned the series for the Netherlands.
The series will begin filming in Argentina, New York, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands from June. Rachel van Bommel produced by Millstreet Films. Main authors are Marnie Blok and Ilse Ott. The episodes will be directed by Saskia Diesing, Joosje Duk and Iván López Núñez.
The full summary is: From the moment Máxima Zorreguieta performed with the Dutch crown prince, she was in the spotlight. When Willem-Alexander marries her, her past catches up with her. A heated discussion broke out about her father’s political career in the Videla regime, which she never got involved in in her own circles. What finally makes this Argentine flourish at an ancient European court? And how can Máxima stay true to herself without giving up her family – or is it wrong?
The series will run over six 50-minute episodes, starting with a contemporary story that begins in Seville in 1999, when Máxima and Willem-Alexander meet. The series then moves to a second, back in time storyline where we see how Máxima has spent her life preparing for this move. When the press heard about her relationship with the crown prince, the couple found themselves on a rollercoaster ride that only slowed when their engagement was announced in 2001.
Chaves, who will play the lead role of Máxima, is best known for her roles in ringo (star+), The secret of the Greco family (netflix), rap battlefield (HBO Max) and Eda (Netflix). Lakemeier plays Prince Willem-Alexander. He is best known for starring in Amazons The east. His other credits include Marie Antoinette (BBC 2), sony boyAnd winter in wartime.
“When Máxima set her feet on Dutch soil, she was called the offspring of two men. Who she was and what she wanted from life was attributed by the outside world first to her father and then to her prince. I love that the show is now telling her story from her point of view,” Chaves said.
