An ad is only interesting if it’s followed by an action. Last September, the minister of national education said that the sex education courses required by law since 2001 should be honoured. Six months later, the expected reinforcement did not take place. To denounce these shortcomings and ensure that the measures are finally respected, Sidaction, SOS homofobia and Family Planning have filed a complaint against the State to the administrative justice.

Since 2001, all pupils in France have had to attend at least three sessions a year of sex education and awareness of sexist and sexual violence. The goal was never achieved and SOS Omofobia regrets in a statement that only 15% of students in general and 20% of middle school students have benefited from the number of sessions foreseen.
Sex education in school is the subject of many fantasies and acquired ideas. His detractors accuse him of wanting to pervert children and knowing how to make himself feel a little too good. According to Lucile Jomat, of SOS Homophobia, the government is “cautious”, especially after the controversy that broke out around the ABCD of equality in 2014. This teaching programme, which was supposed to raise children’s awareness of equality issues, was then suspected of “promoting gender theory” and abandoned as it was.
Many have received sexist and LGBTphobic ideas and violence
This lack of sexual education and awareness has visible negative consequences on adolescents. Again according to the statement released by SOS Omofobia, sexual violence increased by 33% in 2021. In 2022, one in five women between the ages of 18 and 24 would have already been sexually assaulted or raped, while 33% of young people of this age group believe that a woman can experience pleasure when forced.
LGBTphobic attacks have doubled in five years, while 50% of young homosexuals have already been discriminated against in school. Furthermore, homosexual or bisexual people are two to three times more likely to experience sexual, physical or verbal violence.
SOS Homophobia generally deplores a lack of knowledge among young people regarding sexuality and risk prevention: 66% of adolescents who have been in a relationship in the last 12 months would not have used a condom every time. Additionally, 30% of students feel misinformed about HIV and STDs in general. An alarming figure that has prompted the associations to mobilize.
