Vanessa Bryant has reached a $28.85 million settlement with Los Angeles County over leaked photos from the helicopter crash scene that killed her husband Kobe and daughter Gianna. The settlement includes the $15 million Bryant was awarded by a jury in August.

She fought for her husband, her daughter and everyone in the community whose deceased loved ones were treated with the same disrespect. Bryant is suing LA County months after the crash that killed her husband and daughter for taking and sharing photos of the crash scene.
“The free images quickly became the subject of discussion within the department when MPs showed them to colleagues in institutions unrelated to the accident investigation,” the complaint states. “One MP even used his photos of the victims to impress a woman in a bar, who bragged about how he had been at the scene of the accident.”
The lawsuit alleged that the sheriff’s department’s “outrageous actions” caused “Ms. Bryant caused severe and emotional distress.”
Chris Chester, who is named as a joint plaintiff, also lost his wife and daughter in the accident. The crash also killed Alyssa Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, John Altobelli, Christina Mauser and pilot Ara Zobayan. Two other families separately settled with the county over the photos for $1.25 million each. All of the victims’ families have reached an agreement with the helicopter company over the crash, but those terms remain confidential.
