Trial overheard by Johnny Depp-Amber: Forensic psychologist is challenged on complaints of domestic abuse

The day after a forensic psychologist testified that in cases where Amber Heard had been the victim of domestic and sexual assaults by Johnny Depp, Depp’s lawyers tried to shake her knowledge of the couple’s relationship.

In moments of controversial questioning, attorney Wayne Dennison pointed out to Dr. Down Hughes that although he spent 30 hours interviewing Herd, he did not speak to Depp. Hughes defended his analysis of him, even though he told Dennison that he saw witness statements, read documents and reviewed text messages.

Denison also noted that Hughes was a paid witness to Herd’s legal team because, according to Hughes, he was being paid $ 500 an hour. He also said he was right that everything Herd told him happened after Depp sued him in 2019.

Depp’s attorney also played an audio recording before the trial, in which Herd tells her then-husband, “I’m sorry you hit me like that, but you didn’t punch me.” Hughes said Herd admitted that Depp had punched “several times”.

Depp denied allegations of violence and sued Herd in a $ 50 million libel suit in a 2018 Washington Post article in which his ex-wife wrote, “Two years ago I became a public figure representing domestic violence and I felt complete. The power of anger in our culture for women who speak. ”The flock has sued.

Dennison also tried to separate the nuances in Hughes’ testimony. He claimed that his confession was obtained through torture and that his confession was obtained through torture. But Hughes also agreed he “didn’t make a decision about whether Depp was involved in intimate partner violence.”

The package is expected to arrive on Wednesday afternoon.
