Alex was accused of murdering his wife and child

Alex Murdaugh, 54, reported the murders of his son Paul, 22, and his wife Maggie, 52, at the family’s hunting lodge on June 7, 2021. The lawyer and his wife had been living apart for several years and he asked her to meet him to visit his sick father. Maggie and Paul have been hit multiple times. Alex was indicted in July 2022 for the two murders. Alex pleaded not guilty and prosecutors are asking for life without parole.

Buster said he spoke to his family regularly prior to the murders.

Buster was called to testify in his father’s defense. During her emotional testimony to him, Buster said that he kept in touch with all of his family members on a fairly regular basis. He testified that he spoke to each of his family members nearly every day, according to The New York Times newspaper. He described her family as ‘very close’ Today.

Buster testified that he spoke to his father the night of the murders.

Testifying for his father, Buster revealed that his father had called him before going home before allegedly finding Maggie and Paul murdered. Buster revealed that his father called to say he was visiting his mother, and called shortly after learning the two had been murdered. “He looked weird and then he told me my mother and brother had been killed,” he said, to People. “I sat there for a minute. I was shocked.”

After the murders, Buster also testified against the prosecution’s claim that he said “I was so wrong” during a police interview. Alex’s son said it was clear his father had said “them” instead of “me.”

He said his father was angry about the murders.

Alex said that upon learning of the murders, he immediately went to stay with his father. When asked how his father reacted to the murders, Buster explained that Alex was “heartbroken” over the deaths of Maggie and Paul. “I walked in the door and saw him, I hugged him,” he said. “It was destroyed”.
