MUBI today shared a first photo of Barry Keoghan and Christopher Abbott in the upcoming drama bring her downthe feature debut of screenwriter and director Chris Andrews.
The photo is in the final stages of outstanding photography in Ireland. Keoghan and Abbott replace Tom Burke and Paul Mescal, who were previously involved in the film. Colm Meney (Gangs of London), Nora-Jane Nobody (veld fire), Paul ready (hometown) and Susan Lynch (Happy valley, unforgettable) also plays a role in the film.
The action follows Michael (Abbott), the last son of a shepherd family, who lives with his sick father, Ray (Meaney). Burdened by a terrible secret, Michael isolated himself from the world.
When a conflict between rival farmer Gary (Ready) and his son Jack (Keoghan) escalates, Michael is drawn into a devastating series of events that force him to confront the horrors of his past, changing both families forever.
The film is a European co-production, produced by Ivana MacKinnon (animal) by Wild Swim from UK, Ruth Treacy and Julianne Forde from Tailored Films from Ireland, Jacob Swan Hyam (UK) and Jean-Yves Roubin and Cassandre Warnauts from Frakas Productions (Belgium).

Andrews is best known for his short films stalker (2019) and Fireworks (2015). Keoghan starred mainly in Martin McDonagh’s latest film The Banshees by Inisherin. Last Sunday, Keoghan won the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Dominic Kearney in the black comedy. In 2022, Abbott lent his voice to Kenya Barris and Kid Cudi’s animated romantic comedy on Netflix intergalactic.
