Disney+’s mafia drama “The Good Mothers” wins first Berlinale series award

The good mothersthe badass mob drama series from Disney+, won the inaugural Berlinale Series Award.

“The creators of the series worked painstakingly to recreate an authentic and detailed world, presented by an amazing cast, with performances that made our hearts skip a beat,” they said. “The beautiful cinematography, production design and locations all contributed to the ultra-realistic feel of the show, which is only right considering it’s based on real events.”

Forged in partnership with Deadline, the award is the first of its kind for television at a major film festival. Speaking to Deadline earlier this week, the judges predicted the award would boost TV series exposure at A-list film festivals.
