“American Sniper” producer Peter Morgan forms production company TantrumPM

EXCLUSIVE: Peter Morgan – the Oscar-nominated producer of American Sniper formerly Executive Producer at Katalyst Films and Gilbert Films – has announced the formation of TantrumPM, a development and production company that will produce uniquely accessible and meaningful A-List driven content.

TantrumPM is currently developing a dozen projects, including a reboot of the Poison ivy Franchise of erotic thrillers produced by Morgan. A film with the title is also in the works The War and the TreatyDirected by Numa Perrier from a screenplay by Oscar winner Will McCormack (toy story 4) and Oscar-nominated Craig Borten (Dallas Buyers Club). Other producers used for this project include Perrier, Gary Gilbert, John Legend, Mike Jackson and Harvey Mason Jr.

Funding for TantrumPM was provided by tech entrepreneur Brett Markinson, actor Skeet Ulrich and philanthropist Sydney Holland, among others. Notable figures on the advisory board include Disney’s former head of global marketing MT Carney, Coffin Capital’s Matt Coffin, Dan Loeb, founder of Third Point Capital, producer, financial director and entrepreneur Danny Bigel, and Kimberly Ovitz, chief technology officer and fashion designer, to but to name a few to name a few.

“I am pleased to report that Tantrum is using its investors’ deep entrepreneurial background to leverage my experience, passion and long-standing relationships in truly effective ways,” Morgan told Deadline.

Morgan recently produced the award-winning short film Yusuf Nasir sorry to inform youwhich received a nomination for Best Short Film at the 2023 HCA Awards. Following his recent departure from Gilbert Films, where he served as Chief Content Officer, he also directed the Academy Award-winning animated short If something happens, I love youwritten and directed by McCormack and Michael Govier for Netflix as executive producers.

Morgan earned his first Best Picture nomination in 2015 as the producer of Clint Eastwood’s award-winning drama film American Sniper, which grossed over $547 million worldwide. He also previously produced the hit comedy identity thiefwith Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, and the action rom-com Murdererwith Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl.

Morgan’s acting experience began in his twenties at Dick Clark Productions where he was mentored by Dick Clark on a first look deal. Over the years, he has also held senior positions at RKO Pictures, ONC Entertainment based in Sony and Princess Pictures.
