Actress India Amarteifio will play the young Queen Charlotte in the series. Also in the cast are Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta, Cory Milkchrist as King George III and Arsima Thomas as Agatha Danbury. The script for the prequel was written by Shonda Rhimes, who produced the original film.
