Taylor Lautner talked about how the famous “Team Edward vs. Jacob” rivalry affected her and her relationship with Robert Pattinson.
On the Toast podcast, the actor said he would be lying if he didn’t admit that the fan backlash about which character deserves to date Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) didn’t affect him personally.

He explained that it was a “very strange” experience, especially since he often traveled the world in support of the series, but suddenly found himself “with thousands of screaming fans in different cities taking either your side or the other guy’s side”.
I was very young. I was 16 when Twilight came out and 17 at New Moon and Eclipse. I finished the franchise when I was 19,” Taylor said.

The actor added that he wished everyone would let him play the competition on screen rather than in real life: “It’s like we’re a team. We’re both trying to make better movies. But it was kind of weird, competition. There was no rivalry between me and Rob, but the constant reminder of that definitely made an impact.”
And Lautner now understands why some fans prefer Edward. The actor said that he looked at his character from a slightly different angle after rewatching a few movies while he was bored in a hotel room last year: “When I watched Franchise, I thought, ‘I got it.’ Jacob is kind of annoying. disruptive.”
