The BBC has produced a six-part drama about British ska and the emerging two-tone music scene. sharp blind Developer Stephen Knight.
two tone (Working title) tells the story of a large family and four teenagers obsessed with the world of sca and orthodox music who emerged in the British cities of Coventry and Birmingham in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Music has brought together black, white and Asian youth in the UK at a time when race relations were difficult.
The series also marks the beginning of a new deal between Knight and Banijay-UK-backed Kudos, giving Deadwater Fell Indians a first look at their upcoming UK projects. The deal also includes Knight’s commitment to increase the local workforce in Birmingham based on the Digbeth Loc studios.
Term first revealed the gentleman and the hat (Granchester, SAS Rebel Heroes) Work two tone in November 2020.
The news of the series, which will air on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer, comes in the same month as the gangster drama Knight Rumble. sharp blind It’s over on the BBC.

Filming will begin later this year at Birmingham’s Digbeth Loc.
“This is a project that’s literally very close to home, and I’m developing characters and themes that were busy in the early ’80s but hopefully very modern. Of course, the soundtrack will be sensational,” says Knight, creator, writer and executive producer.
Kudos’s Karen Wilson, Martin Haynes, Phil Temple and Laura Conway are executive producers with Wilkinson, Angel and Tommy Bulfin from the BBC. Banijay Rights will distribute internationally.
