Haydn Gwynne who plays Queen Consort Camilla The Windsorssaid the comedy royal plans to film a special episode for King Charles’ coronation later this year.
“They have commissioned a new series which we will shoot later this year. But we’re also going to do a coronation special soon,” Gwynne told BBC Radio 4 on Saturday.
Gwynne went on to say that she initially thought the show would not return after George Jeffrie, who wrote the series with Bert Tyler-Moore, died of a heart attack in 2020.
“I thought that was the end, so it’s amazing that Bert managed to take over and we’re doing it again.”
The Windsors was first broadcast in 2016 on British broadcaster Channel 4. The show’s third season began airing in 2020. As the title suggests, the comedy tells the story of the British royal family, but the monarchy is reimagined through the lens of a soap opera.
Gwynne plays Queen Consort Camilla on the show. She told Radio 4 that she had met the Queen Consort in the past, but since joining the comedy she was often “removed” whenever she got close to Camilla.
“You don’t want the distraction,” Gwynne said. “I was very addicted to the opportunity to meet her a few times.”
Later in the interview, Gwynne is asked to describe how she portrays the Queen Consort on screen, to which she responds with a joke that appears to refer to Prince Harry’s description of Camilla in his book. Reservations to the performance.
“I’m starting to worry if Prince Harry has seen too much of The Windsors with everything he’s seen because I thought my Camilla was nothing like the real Camilla,” she said.
In Reservations, Prince Harry wrote that he and his brother begged their father not to marry Camilla. Her cries fell on deaf ears and Camilla and King Charles married in 2005. During a recent interview with ITV, Prince Harry said at the time Camilla embarked on a calculated agenda to improve her public image by leaking stories to the press.
“Stories about her private conversations with ‘Willy’ popped up all over the papers,” says Harry. »Stories with meticulous details, which of course did not come from Willy. They could only have leaked from the only other person present.
