A cast member at Universal Studios Hollywood Waterworld: A Live Naval War Spectacle was hospitalized on Monday January 23 after an accident during one of the theme park shows.
“We can confirm that an artist has been taken to hospital after a stunt during an afternoon performance with one of our long-time show sellers and our thoughts are with him as he is being cared for. Event details are being reviewed,” said a spokesperson for Universal Studios Hollywood.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a call from the theme park about an “unresponsive patient” just before 2:10 p.m., KTLA reports. The artist revived at the scene and was conscious when he was taken to hospital.
A witness at the theme park told KABC that “the performer was standing on top of one of the towers and fell into the water as part of the act.” The theme park visitor added that “when the other workers noticed he was missing and went into the water to pull him up.”

Opened in 1995, with a similar show based on Miami Vice, the attraction includes water, land and overhead stunts. The show features fireworks, flames, water splashes and an explosive seaplane landing. Waterworld: A Live Naval War Spectacle is also in other Universal Studios theme parks in Japan, Singapore and Beijing.
