Danila Kozlovsky sued the streaming service Start, demanding that it pay him 128 million rubles for the transfer of rights to the TV series Karamora, in which he acted as a director and producer, and also played a major role. This is reported by the publication “Vedomosti”.

According to the lawsuit, Kozlovsky’s production studio DK Entertainment and the Kinoprime Foundation would receive 957 million rubles for the rights to the series. The amount was divided into fixed periodic payments. Initially, Start fulfilled its obligations, but in March the payment of 125 million rubles was not made. Taking into account the penalty for delay, the amount increased to 128 million rubles.

The series premiered on the Start video service in January 2022, and its final episode aired in March.

The platform wanted to sign contracts for the international distribution of content, but this was not possible due to events in Ukraine, Start’s press service told the publication. In addition, problems arose with the show of the series in Russia: viewers began to complain about the series.

The fantasy series “Karamora” tells the alternate history of pre-war Russia at the turn of the 20th century. At the center of the conspiracy is an anarchist nicknamed Karamora, who lost her lover in a conflict with representatives of a secret organization that acts in the interests of those who run the world. The main character will avenge his beloved.

The series “Karamora” was the first project in which Kozlovsky acted as a director, producer and actor.
